The USGA requires that each golfer turn in a scorecard that is properly filled out using the ESC (Equitable Stroke Control) System. It must be properly signed and attested. The only scores exempt from the handicap system are:
- Any round of golf under 13 holes, although 9-hole scores are posted.
- Scramble scores.
- Tournament scores in which the number of clubs is limited.
All other scores must be posted, including match play and Fourball scores.
To make it easier for members who are unsure of how to use the USGA Handicap System, or who need instruction on how to fill out scorecards, the handicap committee will hold several seminars early in the season to help you. Watch the bulletin board for dates. Literature covering the ESC System will be made available at that time.
Members are responsible for posting scores on the MGA computer system located near the Pro Shop. Handicaps may be checked at the GHIN web site.
Any questions regarding handicaps should be directed to the Handicap Committee.
